Cumae, the acropolis

Cumae was the most northerly colony of Magna Graeca. This small picture shows the view looking inland. What captured me was the contrast between the ruined remains of a past civilisation and the spatter of housing - much of it crude and often half-finished - that cover the hills beyond.
